Armetta Jones

Armetta Jones was born on September 18, in Indianola, MS. She is the oldest child born to the late Jimmy and Lue Bertha Burks Jones. Metta, as she is known to our family, was educated in the Indianola Public School System and she graduated from Gentry High School in 1981. While at Gentry, she was a member of the Who’s Who Among High School Students, an avid basketball player, and a phenomenal member of the tennis team. After finishing high school, Armetta further her educational journey and attended Coahoma Jr. College. She was a member of the basketball team, and she obtained an associate’s degree in Business Administration in 1983. From Coahoma, Armetta then enrolled at Mississippi Valley State University where she would pursue her bachelor’s degree. At Valley, she was initiated into Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She helped to provide service to the community of Itta Bena through clothing drives, food drives, and campus cleanups. Armetta graduated in 1985 with her degree in Accounting and Business Management.

In 1987, Armetta decided to relocate to Indianapolis, IN to start her career as an Accountant at the Riley Hospital for Children. While
working at the children’s hospital, Armetta was tasked with being in charge of the company’s entire financial profile. She maintained the organization’s confidence and was always articulate with her policies and procedures.  Armetta retired from the hospital in 2007.
Our family is known for its rich values and philosophies on education and entrepreneurship. Being an entrepreneur was a mission that Armetta wanted to explore. With her business mind and tech savviness, she opened Platinum Clean Janitorial Service, Inc. in 2003. This business is located in Indianapolis, IN. With this business, Armetta provides high quality sanitation, inspection of maintenance
procedures, and top tier cleaning products to her clients.

She is a member of Salt of the Earth Baptist Church—pastored by Dr. Mark L. King. She serves on the Board of Trustees and the Assistant Church Treasurer. Her passions are her beloved Corvette Club. In 1990, Armetta became a member of the Indy Classical Glass Corvette Club, where she has served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Currently, she is the National President of the United Council
of Corvette Clubs, which supervises 20 clubs in over 12 states. Armetta has won numerous awards while in the Corvette Club, including Best of Show, Best Interior and Best Paint in her Car Show class. She is also known as one of the top females in her Drag Racing class. Her passion is for the American dream car… the Corvette. She is also one of ten founders of the Cultural Awareness Corvette Weekend, Inc
brought together with the common goal to organize a weekend of Corvette related events that adds a taste of African American Culture, established in 2020. Being a leader, a servant, and a collaborator are the pieces that complete Armetta.

Her favorite bible verse is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.
